Risk of electric shock from recalled ceiling fan

An electrical safety recall has been issued for the Trinidad ceiling fan with LED lighting produced by Mercator Pty Ltd. Users of the ceiling fan are at risk of electrical shock when the lamp cover (diffuser) is removed this action exposes live parts when the ceiling fan light is turned on.

Customers are advised not to remove the lamp cover of their fan and contact the Mercator warranty department. Mercator will arrange for the fitting of a safety cover by a licenced electrician at no cost to the customer.

These fans were sold throughout Australia from lighting retailers and electrical wholesalers during 18 February to 11 August 2015.
