Dirty air conditioner problems

In between the pummeling of hail and storm battering, the warm spring weather is slowly brightening our days here in southeast Queensland. It’s about this time of year the air conditioning experts start going on to anyone who will listen about giving your air conditioners a good clean before the heat hits and we blow 6 months (or more) of bacteria, mould spores and dust around our homes. After finding a bit more about what lurks within the air conditioning unit, we think they might be onto something.

Dirty air conditioner problems

You only need to lift the front filter cover ( split system ) or drop down the return air grill ( ducted ) of your air conditioner to see how much gunk gets trapped in there and trust us that’s just the tip of the iceberg. A dirty filter provides a great environment for mould growth, bacteria build up and fungus, all of which can trigger asthma, allergies, hayfever and more. Unfortunately, the problems don’t stop there. Every part of the air conditioner exposed to the airflow can become a breeding ground for germs and bacteria.

The particularly bad winter cold and flu season we’ve had this year is a harsh reminder that taking care of our surroundings to prevent the spread of germs needs to be a priority in our homes and workplaces. Giving the air conditioner a thorough clean once or twice a year, (the experts recommend twice, before and after summer) ensures your home is supplied with clean, fresh air all year round.

Many air conditioners are now fitted with advanced filters such as Catechin filters and deodorising filters which remove everything from harmful micro-organisms to bad odours. However, even with modern filtering and air purifying systems, the air conditioner can still harbour nasties that need to be removed with a professional air conditioner clean.

As the weather warms and the rain continues any organisms already living in the air conditioner are supplied with perfect breeding conditions and will continue to multiply until removed.

Clean air conditioner solution

So what is the solution to the dirty air conditioner problem? Move to Iceland for the summer? Maybe, but a less drastic option is to call in the air conditioner clean experts to give it a comprehensive biannual clean. Not ready to commit to 2 air conditioner cleans a year? Just like cleaning your car or mowing the lawn, the more you do it the easier it is to do (read quicker = cheaper).

Make the health of your family or work team a priority this summer. Book a complete air conditioner clean today.
